Olympic decathlete Lindon Victor, who won bronze in Paris, plans to return to Fort Worth to continue training, according to his coaches.
Victor, 31, who represented his home country of Grenada, arrived in Fort Worth in 2021 to begin training with independent coach Chris Huffins. He also trains with TCU multi-events coach Marissa Chew.
“Working with Lindon is amazing because he works harder than anyone I’ve ever worked with,” Huffins said. “His willingness to trust both myself and Coach Chew has been a blessing and a huge part of why we have been so successful together.”
Chew delayed treatment for breast cancer in the summer of 2023 to coach him through several international events.
Both coaches were with Victor in Paris. Chew said it was clear very early into the competition that Victor would medal; it was just a matter of what color the medal would be.

Victor earned 8,711 points in ten decathlon events to secure the bronze. In addition to the 2024 Paris Olympics, he competed in the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympics and the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
In 2016, Victor said he came off a difficult collegiate track and field season. By 2024, he was “physically and mentally ready for the decathlon,” he said. “The decathlon at this level is so mental.”
Huffins competed for the United States in the 1996 and 2000 Olympic games, winning the bronze medal in 2000 with a score of 8,595 points in the decathlon.
Seeing Victor finally win a medal was amazing, Chew and Huffins said. Victor said it felt even greater to accomplish his dream.
Huffins has coached Victor for three years and plans to stay in Fort Worth for the foreseeable future, working with Victor for as long as he wants to continue training.
