The TCU men’s golf team wrapped up the Valero Texas Collegiate on Monday, finishing ninth in a 15-team field at TPC San Antonio.
The Horned Frogs opened the tournament with a 4-under 284 on Saturday, putting them in ninth place after the opening round. Junior Jack Beauchamp and senior Joe Pagdin led TCU, shooting 2-under 70 to sit tied for 23rd.
On Sunday, the Horned Frogs shot a 5-under 283, the second-best round of the day, to climb to fifth place at 9-under 567. Beauchamp led the team with a 3-under 69 tying for sixth at 4-under 139 for the tournament. Newcomer Scott Roden also made a big jump, shooting a 2-under 70 to climb to a tie for ninth at 2-under 141.
However, the Horned Frogs couldn’t keep momentum through Monday, shooting a 4-over 292 to slip to ninth place at 5-under 859. No. 3 Oklahoma won the tournament at 30-under par. Virginia’s Ben James beat Josiah Gilbert of Auburn to earn an exemption for the PGA Tour’s Valero Texas Open 2025.
Roden led TCU for the second straight tournament, tying for 17th at 3-under 213 (71-70-72). Beauchamp finished tied for 24th at 1-under 215 (70-69-76), while Pagdin (70-73-74) and junior Toby Wilt (73-71-74) tied for 35th and 44th, respectively.
Freshman Charlie Wylie had his best round as a Horned Frog on Monday, shooting an even-par 72 with an eagle on the par-4 17th hole.
TCU looks to bounce back when it hosts the prestigious Ben Hogan Collegiate Invitational at Colonial Country Club in Fort Worth Sept. 30-Oct.1. Monday’s first round will be a shotgun start at 8 a.m., and admission and parking are free.
