TCU Equestrian redeems themselves after losing last year to SMU in the NCEA National Championship. However, this didn’t come easy. The Frogs took down the Mustangs in a 10-to-10 tied match that went down to the wire, the Horned Frogs came on top at 1599.75 to 1548.50.
This is the second year the Horned Frogs have taken down the defending champions SMU Mustangs at home.
The Frogs stand-out riders all performed well. Ella Bostwick set a career-high in Fences, earning a score of 92 while riding Electric. Shea Graham also earned a point for the Frogs, scoring 70 in Reining on Britney, earning her the Most Outstanding Performer award.
This is Shea Graham’s 11th Most Outstanding Performer award in Reining and 15th overall. Last season Graham also earned Big 12 Conference Rider Of The Year in Reining, cementing her place as one of the best riders that TCU Equestrian has to offer.
Where Frogs were able to improve from their last meeting against SMU is in Flat. TCU only earned one point in their last meeting, whereas this time they were able to earn three. Laurel Smith, Lilly Goldstein and Ashleigh Scully all got the Frogs on the board.
The Frogs’ next two matchups come Friday, Sept. 27 and Saturday, Sept. 28 where they will take on the Auburn Tigers in Auburn, Alabama and the Georgia Bulldogs in Athens, Georgia.
