Hurricane Helene has killed several people and recovery is underway
Hurricane Helene is now the second deadliest hurricane to hit the United States, according to CNN.
Since last week, Hurricane Helene has been the cause of death for at least 194 people. According to NBC, some people have not been identifiable and others are still missing.
Buildings have been torn from their foundations, streets are submerged in water, homes have been destroyed by fire and apartment complexes are flooded, according to CBS.
Recovery efforts are underway, with hopes of restoring electricity to main roads by the weekend. According to FOX, state and local officials are working to send supplies and teams up the mountain roads to aid those in the hardest-hit areas.
Israel’s attack on Lebanon’s capital kills nine
An attack in Lebanon’s capital has left at least nine dead, including two Lebanese soldiers. Approximately 1.2 million people have been displaced, with many now sleeping on Beirut’s streets. Over 1,300 people have lost their lives, including a U.S. green card holder, while the U.S. and U.K. are evacuating their citizens, according to NBC
The Hostages and Missing Families Forum canceled its weekly rallies due to the security risk.
“The families of the hostages urge the public to continue supporting the struggle and to join the rally in Carmei Gat or Sha’ar HaNegev or at protest points throughout the country,” the forum said.
According to CNN, approximately 160,000 people have fled to Syria since the hostilities intensified.
Tesla recalls Cybertruck for the fifth time
Within a year, the Tesla Cybertruck has been recalled five times. Most recently, Tesla is recalling over 27,000 Cybertrucks due to a defect in the rearview camera, which causes the camera image to malfunction, according to ABC.
Tesla released a software update to try to fix the issue for free. According to CNN, the NHTSA is telling Cybertruck owners to perform a shoulder check and use their mirrors.
CNN explained that even though they are undergoing their fifth recall, Tesla has reported an increase in sales this week and successfully delivered nearly 463,000 vehicles.
A trio of economic shocks poses a threat to the Democratic Party
Hurricane Helene, the issues in Israel and the ongoing port strike are all predicted to have a negative effect on the U.S. economy, which may be casting a negative view on Vice President Kamala Harris, according to CNN.
CNN explained that no specific party has been identified as responsible for these events, but with the election nearly tied, voters are focused on the economy and are blaming the party in power.
Though former President Trump is behind in the polls, he is ahead on top issues in the race when it comes to border security, the economy and the Israel-Hamas war, according to FOX.
