TCU’s Delta Gamma chapter suits up this Saturday at Oct. 5 to play in the Anchor Bowl at AT&T Stadium, the home of the Dallas Cowboys.
The event’s proceeds will go toward the chapter’s philanthropy, Service for Sight, which supports five schools around the country with blind students.
The event is a single-elimination flag football bracket with 32 teams playing. Participants include Interfraternity Council (IFC) fraternities, Panhellenic sororities, football players and students from Southern Methodist University.
Delta Gamma’s members act as coaches and cheer the teams on as they play. Each half is eight minutes long, and four games are played across the field.
The event is led by Tatum DeHart, a journalism and sports broadcasting double major and the foundation’s vice president. DeHart said that last year, they broke the fundraising record with $60,000. This year, they have already raised over $70,000.
“Anchor Bowl has by far been one of my favorite experiences as a Delta Gamma the last three years,” she said. “Service to Sight is such an amazing cause, and it’s great to spread the word at TCU and see the whole community get involved through Anchor Bowl.”
Last year, the Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity won the tournament and looks to defend their title this weekend.
After last year’s Anchor Bowl, Heesoo Yang made a hype trailer which shows off the best parts of the event, such as access to the Cowboys Stadium, playing in the tournament and how much they raised.
