One Direction’s Liam Payne dies after falling from third floor of a hotel, authorities say

Singer Liam Payne was found dead in Buenos Aires after falling out of the third story of a hotel, according to CNN.

Emergency services rushed Payne to the hospital Wednesday evening, but their attempts to resuscitate him did not succeed, according to BBC.

Payne “had thrown himself from the balcony of his room,” said the spokesperson for the Security Ministry of Buenos Aires in a statement to AP.

Police went to the Casa Sur hotel in the Palermo neighborhood after they got a call about an “aggressive man who could be under the influence of drugs or alcohol.” They said they heard a thud when they arrived to the hotel.

Fans gathered outside the hotel in Argentina where Payne was found.

In July 2023, Payne posted a YouTube video saying he had been sober for about six months. His latest single, “Teardrops,” was released in March.

Payne leaves his 7-year-son with fellow singer Cheryl Cole.
