TCU swimming and diving started their 2024-2025 season with a tri-meet against Texas A&M and BYU on Oct. 18 and 19.
Originally, they were set to compete against Florida State University alongside Georgia Tech and Illinois for their first meet of the season, but due to the expansion of a tropical storm, the meet was canceled.
Last season, TCU defeated BYU with a score of 438-306, but lost to Texas A&M.
The first meet of the season is normally two days long. TCU started off strong on the first day. Junior Geremia Freri logged top three wins in all the races he competed in, junior Olivia Rhodes logged a race win and sophomore Nigel Forbes logged the eighth-best 100 butterfly in school history with a time of 48.43, which gave him second place in the event.
The men’s 400m-relay team with junior Jadon Wulliez, sophomore Luke DiMiceli and Forbes, finished half a second behind the Aggies. On the women’s end, the 400m-relay team with first-year Nina Vadovicova, junior Rylie Moore and graduate student Maddy Burt took home third behind both Texas A&M squads.

On the second day of the tri-meet, the Frogs started with a second-place finish in the women’s 200m-medley relay that finished in 1:43:18. On the men’s end, they got a first-place win with a time of 1:28:55.
In the 100m breaststroke, junior Claire Chahbandour was the first person for the Frogs to touch the wall, with Graduate, Ella Stein, following her. The two had times of 1:04:40 and 1:04:93.
First-year Seanna Muhitch led the Frogs in the 1000m freestyles, which is considered one of her signature events, according to TCU Athletics. She finished fifth in that race.
In his signature event, the 100m breaststroke, Wuilliez took home a win for the frogs in that event with a time of 54.81
The TCU men’s diving team placed in the top ten for each of their dives. First-year Bryan James, took home fifth place with a score of 31.25, followed by sophomore Elliot Dillon in sixth with a score of 300.80 and senior David Ekdahl in seventh with a score of 294.00.
At the end of the meet, TCU beat both BYU and Texas A&M. In the women’s 1-meter-dive, senior Anna Kwong scored 301.10, which earned her first place for the Frog’s diving team.
TCU swimming and diving will be back again at home as they take on rival team SMU. The men’s team will start the meet on Friday, Oct. 25 at 5 p.m. CDT. The women’s team will be competing the following Friday and Saturday as they take on SMU and Arkansas. The women’s Friday meet will be at home but transition to SMU on Saturday.
