Texas death row inmate did not testify like supposed to regarding halted execution
Robert Roberson was sentenced to death in 2003 after being convicted of killing his daughter. His execution was scheduled for Thursday, October 17, but it was paused, according to FOX 4 KDFW.
On Thursday, Roberson would have been the first person in the United States to be executed for a murder related to shaken baby syndrome, according FOX 4 KDFW.
On Monday, October 21, he was supposed to testify but did not because there was a disagreement on whether Roberson would appear virtually or in person for his testimony, according to Fox 4 KDFW.
Liam Payne had “pink cocaine” among other things in his system at his time of death
Liam Payne, former One Direction singer, died at 31 years old and was found to have numerous substances in his system, according to ABC News. The singer died last week after falling three stories from his hotel balcony while on vacation in Argentina.
“Pink cocaine” (typically a mix of methamphetamine, ketamine, MDMA and others), cocaine, benzodiazepine and crack were all identified in the singer’s system during the autopsy, according to ABC News.
An employee is suspected to have sold Payne the drugs on the day of his death, but charges have not been filed against him or her, according to ABC News.
Juvenile in Washington killed five
Three children and two adults were killed early Monday morning in Fall City, Washington, according to NBC News.
A juvenile has been taken into custody for the murders, according to NBC News.
The teenager in custody is believed to be a member of the family he or she attacked. When arriving at the scene, investigators immediately took the teenager into custody, finding another teenager injured and five other family members dead, according to The Guardian.
“Central Park Five” filed lawsuit against former President Donald Trump
On Monday, members of the “Central Park Five” filed a defamation lawsuit against Donald Trump after the September 10 ABC News presidential debate. According to ABC News, the members claim that Trump has caused them “severe emotional distress and reputational damages” after making “false, misleading and defamatory” remarks about their case.
The five men were accused of raping a female jogger in Central Park in 1989. They were convicted but these convictions have since been vacated, according to ABC News.
Trump made false claims during the debate, saying the five men pled guilty and that the mayor at the time of the attack, Ed Koch, agreed with Trump’s position, according to ABC News.
One of the members of the “Central Park Five”, Salaam, was present for the debate and tried to advocate for himself, questioning Trump and attempted to speak to the former President afterwards. Trump did not engage with him, according to ABC News.
DOD and FBI are investigating a potential information leak
Classified information pertaining to Israel’s plans to attack Iran could have been leaked, officials said Monday. The FBI and Defense Department are investigating this potential breach, according to ABC News,
The leak is related to two documents that detail the United State’s analysis of Israel’s plans to fight back against Iran. These two documents appeared on social media last week, one from the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency and the other from the National Security Agency, according to ABC News.
Currently, it is unknown who leaked the documents. It is a possibility that they were stolen and leaked, or they could have been shared by someone on the inside, according to ABC News.
