The Horned Frogs won a roller coaster game against the Red Raiders at Amon G. Carter Stadium.
After 28 unanswered points with 6:33 left in the third quarter, the game looked grim for TCU.
But the Frogs found themselves celebrating a 35-34 win and their first home Big 12 victory all season.
“You have to make those big plays down the stretch to win a game like this,” Head Coach Sonny Dykes said.
An 84-yard touchdown to wide receiver Eric McAlister to take the lead was one of those many big plays that catapulted the Frogs to victory.
“I’m just a guy that is going to catch the football and run away,” McAlister said.
Wide receiver Jack Bech also had a 52-yard reception during a touchdown drive in the middle of the fourth quarter.
This balanced offense has now achieved over 100 yards on the ground in back-to-back games.
Star wide receiver Savion Williams lined up at running back and as a wildcat quarterback, a wrinkle that led to success on the ground.
Williams had 11 carries for 72 yards and a rushing touchdown, alongside his 81 yards receiving and a touchdown through the air.
The offensive unit had three turnovers and only converted three times on third-down occasions, but the defense stepped up.
“It puts your back against the wall when you continue to turn it over,” said Dykes.
The Frogs held the Texas Tech rushing attack to 3.6 yards per carry, preventing them from icing the game while they were ahead.
Most importantly, TCU’s defense forced a crucial fumble as the Red Raiders drove down the field late in the fourth quarter. They also prevented Texas Tech from attempting a field goal to win the game.

“I hit my max vertical on the sideline after the fumble. I saw it when I popped out, and I was jumping and jumping,” said starting quarterback Josh Hoover.
TCU improved to 5-3 in the season and 3-2 in the Big 12.
“I really love this team; the guys are invested in each other. You don’t win a game like that if that’s not the case,” Dykes said.
The Horned Frogs’ next game will be on the road against Baylor on Saturday, Nov. 2, at 7 p.m. CDT.
