The game opened with intensity as TCU’s Cameron Patton drew a handball foul inside the OSU penalty box within the first four minutes, setting up a penalty kick that Seven Castain deftly converted. This early goal marked Castain’s 11th of the season and gave TCU a crucial 1-0 lead.
Throughout the first half, the Frogs outshot the Cowgirls 7-3, while goalkeeper Megan Plaschko contributed two saves to maintain the advantage.
OSU regrouped after the break, controlling possession in the early minutes of the second half and creating an opportunity to equalize with a clear shot at an open net. However, the Cowgirls’ missed attempt left TCU’s lead intact. In the 53rd minute, Plaschko executed a diving save to further cement TCU’s defensive stronghold, recording her third save of the match and keeping the shutout alive.
The Frogs struck again in the 62nd minute when Oli Pena drew a second foul inside the box, leading to Bella Diorio’s 11th goal of the season as she netted the penalty to bring TCU’s lead to 2-0.
This two-goal margin allowed TCU to close out the game comfortably, earning their seventh shutout of the season.
Head Coach Eric Bell expressed pride in his team’s resilience, noting the challenge of staying undefeated in a conference with varied playing styles and tough competition. “It is really hard to win the Big 12 regular season title… I am really proud of them,” Bell said.
With a perfect conference record of 9-0-2, TCU captured their third Big 12 regular-season title in five years and enters the Big 12 Championship in Kansas City as the No. 1 seed.
