Donald Trump’s event at Madison Square Garden features racist and crude insults
Trump hosted a rally at Madison Square Garden in New York on Sunday, Oct. 27 with multiple speakers that transformed the event from a feature of closing remarks to intense criticism of multiple subjects, according to AP News.
With nine days before election day, speakers called Puerto Rico a “floating island of garbage” and labeled Democratic Vice President Kamala Harris as the “devil”.
Danielle Alvarez, senior adviser for the Trump campaign, released a statement that they do not affiliate with the views of Tony Hinchcliffe, the stand-up comic whose set included comments about Latinos, Jews and Black people, as well as the remark at Puerto Rico.
Trump’s childhood friend, David Rem, is the speaker who referred to Harris as “the Antichrist” as well as “the devil,” while Trump refrained from speaking about his opponent.
Instead, Trump focused on the importance of voting: “This election is a choice between whether we’ll have four more years of gross incompetence and failure, or whether we’ll begin the greatest years in the history of our country,” he said.
Tests rule out beef patties as the source for E. Coli at McDonald’s
McDonald’s announced on Sunday that the bacterial tests ruled out beef patties as the source of the deadly E. Coli outbreak, and that the popular burger would be back on the menu in a dozen states, according to the NY Times.
In 900 locations, Quarter Pounders will be back on the menu without the raw onions, which federal regulators have identified as the likely factor in the sickness of 75 people and the death of one Colorado resident.
Tests were conducted on “dozens of subsamples from all the lots and all samples were found to be negative for E. coli,” which McDonald’s referenced in their statement about the beef patties, according to Colorado’s Agriculture Department.
As for the onions, on Friday, Mcdonald’s said that they would not buy onions from the Colorado Springs site of its major regional supplier Taylor Farms, a multistate producer of vegetables and fruits, because last week, Taylor Farms recalled several yellow onion products because of “potential E. coli contamination,” according to the NY Times.
U.S. health officials said that they believed that the recall of onions from the region’s food supply chain would lower the risk to consumers but McDonald’s is paying the price with stock shares falling by roughly 7%.
Actor Timothée Chalamet crashes a look-alike contest at a NYC Park
Timothée Chalamet surprised hordes of doppelgängers and fans at Washington Square Park on Sunday, according to NBC4.
Hundreds of people packed the park by 1 p.m. when the unofficial contest was scheduled for.
Chalamet look-alikes were seen in the crowd, drawing inspiration from his on-screen roles such as Dune, Bob Dylan and Willy Wonka to compete for a $50 cash reward.
Commotion ensued between the eager crowd and NYPD, where four people were detained for disorderly conduct.
Once the dust settled after Chalamet made his surprise appearance, the contest’s organizer crowned the winner wearing the purple Wonka cape.
The NYC jail housing Sean “Diddy” Combs is now a target of “interagency operation”
Federal prison officials are targeting the New York City jail where Sean “Diddy” Combs is being held with an interagency operation Monday, according to CBS.
The Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn is currently housing Combs on charges of sex trafficking and racketeering.
The Federal Bureau of Prisons told CBS News in a statement that the operation was “designed to achieve our shared goal of maintaining a safe environment for both our employees and the incarcerated individuals housed at MDC Brooklyn,” and added that there was no active threat at the facility.
The interagency operation comes as the facility faces concerns over deaths, violence and dismal conditions where the Bureau of Prisons and the Justice Department have been working to fix the problems and hold perpetrators accountable.
Nine inmates were charged in a series of attacks at the troubled jail just last month.
