TCU women’s basketball won in blowout fashion in their home opener against Houston Christian, 78-41.
The Frogs started slow by shooting just 4-17 from the field in the first quarter.
Hailey Van Lith made her debut as a Horned Frog and scored her first points with a three-pointer and began her own 11-0 run which led TCU to gain a 10-point lead in the second half.
The Frogs forced 13 HCU turnovers within the first 15 minutes of the game, showcasing their dominant defense.
By the end of the second quarter, the Frogs threw down open shots and went into halftime up by 17 with a score of 19-36.
Sedona Prince and Van Lith led the team with a combined total of 25 points.

In the second half, Prince led the team, being the only TCU player to score for the first four and a half minutes.
Houston struggled with shot clock violations as their offense struggled to find their rhythm. TCU’s defense kept them tight and left them with few open shots.
Madison Conner, a returning player, played selfishly, statting seven assists to contribute to her team’s win.
TCU forced 25 turnovers against HCU by the end of the third quarter, the most forced turnovers by a TCU team led by head coach Mark Campbell.
The Frogs showed their tight defense, forcing 36 total turnovers on the Huskies by the end of the night. Prince and Van Lith closed the game with a combined 50 points.
Ella Hamlin, one of the three walk on players last season, made the last basket of the night which closed out this season opener with a final score of 41-78.
The Frogs now sit with a 1-0 record and will host New Orleans at home on Sunday, Nov. 10 at 2 p.m.
