TCU sophomore Kirstin Angosta has been named Big 12 Golfer of the Month for October, becoming just the fifth player in program history to receive the prestigious honor.
The recognition follows Angosta’s breakthrough victory at the Jim West Challenge, where she took her first collegiate tournament win with a career-best 10-under-par 206 at Kissing Tree Golf Club in San Marcos, Texas. She birdied three of her last four holes, including the 18th, to claim a one-stroke individual victory. Her late surge proved crucial for the team championship, as the Horned Frogs overtook No. 26 Houston to win by a single stroke at 22-under 842.
Angosta maintained her strong play at the inaugural Charles Schwab Women’s Collegiate Invitational at Ridglea Country Club, where she tied for 17th place with a score of 5-over 218. Her steady performance helped TCU secure fourth place in their final fall event, with all five TCU players finishing in the top 20.
The sophomore has established herself as one of the Big 12’s most consistent players this fall, securing four top-20 finishes in five tournaments. Her resume includes a runner-up finish at September’s Bettie Lou Evans Invitational. Angosta leads the Horned Frogs with a 71.9 scoring average and has posted sub-70 rounds four times this season, while playing at par or better in nine of 14 rounds.

Her consistency has earned her a current scoreboard individual ranking of No. 68, after reaching a career-high of No. 57 following her October victory.
Angosta’s path to TCU included notable success at both Bishop Gorman High School in Las Vegas and Coppell High School, where she collected multiple tournament victories including the AJGA Thunderbird Junior All-Star Tournament and the FCG International Golf Championship in 2020.
The psychology major is the first TCU golfer to earn the accolade since 2022. She and the Horned Frogs will return to action on Jan. 31 at the Collegiate Invitational at Guadalajara Country Club in Mexico to begin their spring season.
