Through a live link on the NCAA website, women’s soccer college teams sat anxiously to see which teams will be selected for the NCAA Tournament on Saturday.
The TCU Horned Frogs were one of the 64 programs selected.
TCU scored the No. 5 seed and will serve as a host for the first round of the NCAA Tournament for the fifth time in program history.
After taking home the Big 12 regular season title, the Frogs finished second at the Big 12 Championship. With two wins in the semifinal and quarterfinal matches of the Big 12 Championship. TCU lost to Kansas in the championship match with a final score of 2-1.
However, the program’s big wins against BYU and Colorado as well as their appearance in the Big 12 Soccer Championship provided the opportunity move on and compete in the NCAA Tournament brackets.
TCU’s bid was the highest bid to be received in the NCAA Tournament among Big 12 schools.
As a conference, the Big 12 received seven bids to the tournament. Kansas, being the winner in the Big 12 championship game, got an automatic bid while BYU, Colorado, Oklahoma State, Texas Tech and West Virginia all received large bids in similar fashion to the Frogs.
TCU appeared in eight out of the last nine NCAA Tournaments. Last year, TCU did not make the cut in the selection for post-season play.

Aside from qualifying for the NCAA Tournament, the Horned Frogs additionally had four team members make the Big 12 All-Tournament Team, including freshman midfielder Morgan Brown, junior forward Seven Castain, graduate student and forward Caroline Kelly and senior midfielder Oli Pena.
In the first round of the NCAA Tournament, TCU hosts Stephen F. Austin in Fort Worth. If TCU wins the first round, they will move on to play No. 4 Penn State or Stony Brook.
The Frogs take the field Nov. 15 at Garvey-Rosenthal Soccer Stadium at 7 p.m.
