An organization dedicated to supporting and promoting TCU Baseball is official on campus this semester.
Diamond Crew’s goal is to unite students who are passionate about baseball in a low-commitment way. Before the COVID-19 pandemic, a club with a similar purpose was postponed.
In 2021, Hayley Vasquez decided to continue this club with the creation of Diamond Crew.
Vasquez is the founder and former president of Diamond Crew. She noticed that other universities had a similar program and wanted to bring this idea to the TCU campus.
“I wanted to create a group designed to bring people together who shared a mutual love for baseball,” Vasquez said.
The organization is in collaboration with TCU Athletics and the marketing department, which helps lead game day activities on campus. This includes giveaways, tabling and in-game experiences.
The Diamond Crew executive committee is organizing its first meeting of the semester, where they will discuss upcoming plans, including tabling events, promotional strategies and bonding activities for members.
Preparations have begun for the I-Fest in the spring, providing an opportunity for interested students to learn more about the club’s mission and programs. The semester kick-off will help set goals, foster teamwork and engage new members in the crew’s initiatives.
Emma Poland, a senior biology major, is president of Diamond Crew and has been a part of the club since 2021. She got involved with Diamond Crew in her first year at TCU.
“This organization has provided me with exciting opportunities with sports and marketing despite being a biology major,” Poland said.
The process to become an official TCU organization includes an application and weekly meetings about available resources. Diamond Crew began its application in August.
Since its start with just 20 members in 2021, the Diamond Crew has grown by 50%, now boasting over 40 active members. Beyond expanding its numbers, Diamond Crew has also broadened its role with TCU Baseball.
Originally focused on marketing and in-game support, the group is now dedicated to uplifting and enhancing the baseball program. This shift emphasizes a deeper commitment to promoting team spirit, program visibility and engagement both on and off the field.
“Fostering a passionate community who come together and enjoy the promotional activities accomplishes this,” Poland said.
