TCU men’s basketball team, now 5-3, defeated the Xavier Musketeers 76-72 tonight in a game down to the buzzer.
The Horned Frogs proved their chemistry continues to develop as they pave their way to their fourth straight NCAA tournament.
Coming off a tough road loss against Colorado State (72-76) on Nov. 29, TCU needed a comeback in tonight’s match-up and rediscover their rhythm again offensively.
Following tip off, TCU set tone of the game with strong and aggressive play. Forcing seven turnovers on Xavier in the first half and dominating the boards, winning the rebound battle 20-13.
Freshman Micah Robinson received a technical foul after an exchange with Xavier’s bench. Despite this set back, Robinson led the Frogs with 10 first-half points.
Going into halftime TCU led by eight points, but the Musketeers came out of the locker room with renewed energy. The team took the lead at the 12-minute mark.
The final stretch of the game was fierce.

Xavier’s Ryan Conwell proved to be a threat for TCU as he led his team with 17 points, five rebounds and six assists. Overall, the Musketeers struggled to consistently attack the paint on the offensive end and apply pressure on TCU throughout the entire game.
The Horned Frogs tied the rebounding battle which has been a weakness for the team this season as all three of their losses far. They have been out-rebounded by an average of 7-10 per game. Tonight, the battle was a tie which still shows improvement from this team offensively.
Frankie Collins once again proved to be an instrumental player to the team as he led the Frogs with 16 points, seven rebounds and five assists. Collins consistently manages to get to the paint, opening up opportunities for not just himself but the team.
TCU showed effective unity tonight allowing them to close out this game with a win. Navigating a close game prepares the Frogs as conference play will begin later this month.
The Horned Frogs will face Vanderbilt Sunday, Dec. 8 at 11:30 a.m. at Dickies Arena.
