Coming off their first loss of the season, the TCU women’s basketball team secured a 51-point win against the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs, 92-41.
This marked the 18th Maggie Dixon Classic to honor the legacy of late Army women’s basketball head coach and the younger sister of the TCU men’s basketball head coach Jamie Dixon, making the win sentimental for the Frogs.
From opening tip-off, the Frogs played strong and smart on both sides of the court making it hard for LA Tech to get any good looks. The Bulldogs shot only 23% from the field compared to TCU’s 66% in the first half. The lack of shooting coupled with nine turnovers forced on LA Tech led the Frogs to build a 30-point advantage.
Standout player for the Frogs Madison Connor hit a career milestone in the first half, earning her 1,000th career point. Connor closed out the game with 18 points and four rebounds.
Hailey Van Lith led TCU’s scoring with 23 points, three rebounds and four assists.
In the second half of the match, LA Tech continued with strong efforts but were not able to gain momentum against the Frogs’ defense. TCU’s efficiency and aggressive play on both sides of the court left the Bulldogs to only put up 25 points throughout the second half.
The Horned Frogs’ main goal following their 33-point-loss against South Carolina was to come out and find their rhythm again after double digit turnovers and shooting below 50% from the field.
