Students are getting a snow day before the spring semester even begins.
TCU administration is closing campus on Thursday, Jan. 9 and Friday, Jan. 10 due to a winter storm warning.
The administration is also adjusting plans for spring orientation and registration to ensure that classes will start on Monday, Jan. 13, according to an email from Sean Taylor, director of emergency management at TCU.
“Weather can change at any time in Texas,” Taylor wrote.
Taylor referenced last year’s plans for snow and ice and advised students to use their best judgment before traveling.
Since it is winter break, dining halls will remain closed until Saturday, Jan. 11, when they were scheduled to reopen.
The Mary Couts Burnett Library will remain closed until Jan. 13, and the Brown-Lupton Health Center and the Counseling and Mental Health Center will be closed while the university is shut down as well.
The Department of Emergency Management will try to notify students, faculty and staff of a snow day by 4 p.m. the day before a closure, but weather will likely warm up enough before classes start on Monday, according to the National Weather Service.
