TCU women’s basketball demonstrated yet another fierce performance, collecting their ninth consecutive win of the season in a face-off against the UCF Knights with a final score of 90-81.
The Frogs opened the game with a heated first quarter, taking control and having a strong offensive start. They scored 30 points, marking the most first-quarter points in any game under head coach Mark Campbell.
At the half, TCU led 47-32. The Frogs took advantage of the Knights’ defensive weakness where they were consistently unguarded from beyond the arc, allowing for a double-digit lead while shooting nine-of-25 from three-point range.
Third quarter was all on the Frog’s time as they continued to set the tempo. While UCF showed offensive improvement, matching their entire December point total of 52 by the end of the third quarter, they still couldn’t close the gap against the Frogs.
Sedona Prince was a standout player for the Frogs leading with 27 points, four assists and seven rebounds. Hailey Van Lith set a career-high with six three-pointers. She had 20 points, seven assists and four rebounds.
The two players are ranked the nation’s third highest scoring duo who average 36.4 points per game.
The Knights offense was led by Kaitlin Peterson with 33 points, two assists and four rebounds. While UCF was seemingly able to come back a stronger team, the Frogs gave them 13-points in turnovers and were 11-16 from the free throw line.
The Horned Frogs will remain at home and prepare to face the Utah Utes on Jan. 17. Tipoff is set for 6:30 p.m, and will stream on ESPN+.
