TCU men’s basketball shot a Big 12 record-low 5% from three-point range in an 85-58 loss to UCF Saturday afternoon, as the Horned Frogs never recovered from an early 13-0 deficit at Addition Financial Arena.
“We got thoroughly outplayed,” TCU coach Jamie Dixon said. “I thought we’d get hit early but not to that extent.”
TCU missed their first seven shots while UCF opened with three straight 3-pointers from Keyshawn Hall. The Knights’ hot shooting continued throughout, finishing 13-of-31 from beyond the arc while TCU managed just 1-of-20.
Vasean Allette led TCU with 15 points, marking his 10th straight game in double figures. Isaiah Manning added seven points off the bench, including TCU’s only 3-pointer midway through the second half.
The Horned Frogs briefly cut the lead to 25-19 late in the first half before UCF pulled away with a 13-4 run. Despite outrebounding UCF 39-38, TCU shot just 35.9% overall and couldn’t generate enough offense to mount a comeback.
“We went one for eight in the second half on three… couldn’t make a shot,” Dixon said. “I told our guys we were going to turn this into an one-possession game. We’ve had some comeback games, just had the win at Baylor… Just seemed like we just never got confident.”

Hall finished with a game-high 26 points and eight rebounds for the Knights. The loss snapped several TCU streaks – Noah Reynolds’ eight-game double-digit scoring run ended with two points, while Trazarien White went 0-for-6 from deep to end his string of 12 straight games with a made 3-pointer.
TCU continues their road swing Wednesday at Texas Tech. Tipoff is set for 6 p.m. on ESPN2.
