At a 30-point deficit, No. 8 Iowa State interrupted TCU men’s basketball’s two-game winning streak Saturday afternoon at the Hilton Coliseum. As a result of TCU’s shaky defense, the Cyclones attributed a 59.6% in scoring.
The game was slow to start, with missed shots and turnovers in the first half. The Cyclones were first on the board after a scoreless three minutes. Iowa State’s strength in the paint led them to 70.8% shooting in the first 20 minutes, while TCU fell short at 31.8%.
Iowa State guard Curtis Jones made two deep threes against the Frogs, finishing with 16 points in the first half. TCU forward Trazarien White led the Frogs with eight points.

With under two minutes left in the first half, TCU struggled to keep the Cyclones at bay, giving them their largest lead thus far at 24-42.
After a seven-game hiatus, Iowa State sophomore Milan Momcilovic returned with drive and started the second half with a three-pointer. Momentum picked up as TCU cut the Iowa State lead by 20 points in the 12th minute. That quickly shifted, as did the Frogs’ confidence when Momcilovic put up 14 points and two rebounds in his return.
Ernest Udeh Jr. led the Frogs with five rebounds and eight points overall.
The Horned Frogs will return home to face Oklahoma State at 6 p.m. CET on Wednesday.
