TCU looks to return to form in 2025 with the help of transfers and freshmen, as well as skilled returning players like Anthony Silva.
Anthony Silva was a key in the Horned Frogs College World Series run in 2023 but experienced a sophomore slump last season as his batting average fell to .268.
TCU hopes Bill Mosiello‘s return will help Silva and other Horned Frogs who struggled last season step up this season.

Mosiello spent nine seasons with TCU as an assistant coach from 2014-22 before leaving to be the head coach at Ohio State. In his final season with TCU, the team hit .270; with 62 home runs en route to a Big 12 championship. His return brings hope for an offensive resurgence, and early signs have been promising.
Season opener in San Diego
The Frogs opened their 2025 campaign with a series against the University of San Diego, showing flashes of their offensive potential.
Sophomore transfer Jack Bell made an immediate impact, blasting a grand slam in Saturday’s game.
First year Noah Franco, the seventh-ranked prospect in the nation, also showed why he’s expected to be a key contributor by hitting two home runs in Sunday’s game. Franco, who won TCU’s Fall MVP award, will be a vital member of both the offense and pitching staff this season as a two-way player.
Just as offensive production will be key to the Frogs’ success, dominance on the mound will be just as important.
TCU suffered a major loss to its pitching staff on Thursday when it was confirmed that their ace, Ben Abeldt, would be out for the season with a UCL injury. TCU will now turn to the veterans of its pitching staff, Caedmon Parker and Kole Klecker, to make a deep postseason run.
Wichita State transfer Tommy LaPour and freshman Trever Baumler will also be crucial in filling the void left by Abeldt. LaPour pitched six innings without giving up a run in his first start of the season on Saturday, while Baulmer threw five innings, giving up two runs in his collegiate debut on Sunday.
TCU Baseball has the potential for a deep postseason run, but there are still questions that need to be answered.
Their success will depend heavily on how well the pitching staff holds up and whether the offense can produce consistently against tough competition. While they have the talent to compete, it remains to be seen if they can put everything together.
