TCU women’s basketball extends their record-breaking win streak at home with a 21-point win against the West Virginia Mountaineers, 71-50.
The first quarter of this game was all Frogs, taking their first lead of the game around the four minute mark, 6-5. The team had five different scorers contributing to the opening frame, and the team’s balanced offense and ball sharing aided in maintaining the lead throughout the first half.

TCU started slow in the second quarter, but quickly got hot on offense shooting 53% from the field. The momentum allowed it to build a 19-point lead at half.
West Virginia struggled to control any aspect of this game, shooting only 33% from the field in the first half. TCU’s defense was a major factor forcing seven turnovers on the Mountaineers. Sedona Prince had five blocks, leaving the opponent weak in shooting with limited opportunities.
Coming out of halftime, the Mountaineers upped their physicality which gave them more control of the game. West Virginia has averaged 29 points-per-game from opponents’ mistakes this season but TCU gave them limited opportunities to capitalize on.
Alongside turnovers hurting the Frogs with seven in the third quarter, the team lost rhythm with getting shots in.
On the other side of the court, West Virginia failed to capitalize on the Frogs’ slower pace, shooting nearly 20% less from the field.
TCU was led by Hailey Van Lith with 26 points, six rebounds and four assists followed by Prince with 20 points, eight rebounds and seven blocks.
Up next, the Frogs look to keep the at-home win streak alive against Houston on Wednesday Feb. 25 at 6:30 p.m.
