As TCU students, we know TCU-wide emails often go unread, so we’re reading them for you. Check back for short summaries on any university updates from the office of the chancellor or other TCU administration. In addition, we’ll be updating the “What 2 Do @ TCU” highlights every week with a few stand-out events the university is promoting.
8.26.25: A message from VC Cavins-Tull
In the latest email from TCU’s vice chancellor for student affairs, Kathy Cavins-Tull offered advice to students facing “challenging, highly charged or emotional” situations on campus.
She wrote that some outside individuals and groups are on campus trying to arise reactionary based content from individuals on sensitive issues.
The email reminded everyone of their first amendment rights to exchange ideas and occupy public spaces, a Texans’s right to one-party recording and an individual’s right to not engage. Cavins-Tull also reminded students of the difficulty to remove a video from online platforms, reiterating her prior call to thoughtful interaction instead of rash reactional decisions.
8.26.25: A successful TCU Alert test
At around 1:50 p.m., the TCU Alert system activated loudspeakers, emergency lights and mobile communication across campus and to every student. Per Adrian Andrew’s recent announcement, the test was successful in its effort to improve and maintain campus safety.
8.25.25: Important Fall 2025 Information for Students
TCU’s latest marathon of an email was sent to comply with federal law and deals with issues of student conduct and behavior as well as general university safety and health policies. Some highlights include TCU’s commitment to nondiscrimination, FERPA, drug-free premises, appropriate disciplinary actions and the Good Samaritan policy (awarding amnesty to students seeking drug or alcohol-related emergency care). The Dean of Students Office highly encourages all students to read the email in its entirety to be aware of their rights and requirements as TCU community members.
8.25.25: Test of Emergency Mass Notification System – TCU Alert
Per Adrian Andrews’s recent announcement, the university will text the TCU emergency alert system tomorrow, including outdoor loudspeakers, lighting and email and text messaging. The test will occur tomorrow on Aug. 26 for approximately two minutes.
8.21.25: Eyes on the Prize | Fall 2025 TCU Magazine
The newest issue of the TCU Magazine includes stories from Athletic Director Mike Buddie, Chancellor Daniel Pullin, Quarterback Josh Hoover and more. In this email promoting the magazine, Pullin emphasized TCU’s commitment to the Horned Frog athletic program, calling it a “cornerstone” and a “front porch.” His goals as athletics expands is to draw high level athletes who will also be ethical and responsible student leaders, Pullin wrote.
8.20.25: Vigil in honor of Giles Pond – Sunday
Sophomore from Houston, Giles Pond, died on June 10 in an ATV accident in Colorado. The traditional candlelight vigil at a stilled Frog Fountain will be held on Sunday, August 24 at 8 p.m.
8.19.25: The Leap – TCU’s Convenient On-Campus Transit System
Not to be confused with TCU’s favorite student-produced entertainment talk show, The Leap is TCU’s new bus system. There are three bus lines dropping off at various academic and residential locations from Lot 4 and Frog Alley Parking Garage (now, Garage A). The buses are operating from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. on weekdays and 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on weekends. The live map is supposed to help students plan their commute.
8.18.25: Welcome to the 2025-2026 academic year!
Chancellor Daniel Pullin welcomed new and returning students, faculty, staff and community members. He encouraged new students to involve themselves in the TCU community by meeting their professors, joining student organizations and reaching out for help. Other highlights included a standing invitation to TCU Family Weekend (Sept. 12-14) and the announcement of the university’s recent awards (ranked first for happiest students and second for best quality of life).
4.22.25: Celebrate 22 Years with Boschini Fest – Live Music, Food & Fireworks!
Celebrate 22 years of transformational impact of Chancellor and Mrs. Victor J. Boschini Jr. and their family at “Boschini Fest.” The event will have light bites, live music, photo opportunities and fireworks as well as chancellor remarks and a special presentation at 8 p.m. Boschini Fest will take place in the Campus Commons on Friday, May 2 from 7-8:30 p.m.
4.14.25: Texas Christian University Board of Trustees Meeting Outcomes Summary, Spring 2025
The Board of Trustees met last week to discuss updates on the LEAD ON: Values in Action™ strategic plan, leadership transition, East campus development, the university budget and other priorities. The Board ratified decisions regarding the chancellor and welcomed two new trustees. Updates were given about the progress of TCU’s LEAD ON: Values in Action strategic plan. The Private Partnership Development initiative and the East Campus Enabling Infrastructure Project will include expansions of over 34,200 beds for students. Approved expansions will also occur in the Market Square and Ed Landreth Hall and Auditorium. The Mike and Brenda Harrison Football Performance Center is scheduled for a May 2025 completion with the Bob Lilly Performance Center then closed for renovations before reopening July 2025. The Simpson Family Restoration and Wellness Center is on target for a June 2025 opening. The John Justin Athletic Center is being renamed the John Justin Football Complex and will feature a new entryway for guests into the program’s athletics facilities and the football headquarters. The board has renamed the GrandMarc residence hall to Molly Reid Hall after Trustee Rusty Reid and wife, Molly. The board received updates on key leadership positions. Floyd L. Wormley Jr. was named Provost and Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs and Mike Buddie was named Director of Intercollegiate Athletics. The board approved Victor J Boschini Jr. to become Chancellor Emeritus and Chief Enrollment Officer. Daniel W. Pullin will become the 11th Chancellor of the university. The search for the next Chief of Staff and Secretary of the Board of Trustees continues. As of the 12th day of class in the Spring semester, undergraduate enrollment is at 10,548. The total number of students living in campus housing is 5,209, with residence halls occupied at 93% capacity and fraternity and sorority halls at over 99% capacity, according to Kathy Cavins-Tull. The Executive Committee approved the recommendation for an Honorary Degree for Taylor Sheridan as presented by the Faculty Senate in February 2025. The Honorary Degree of Doctor of Letters will be awarded to Sheridan at a future special ceremony.

3.31.25: Rescheduled: Town Halls with President Pullin
March 31’s town hall meeting with President Pullin is rescheduled for April 16th from 3:30-4:30pm in the Intercultural Center. Pizza will be served! The event organizers thank you for your flexibility and look forward to seeing you then. Pullin will be giving the latest campus updates and taking student questions and comments.
3.24.25: TCU Squirrels Need a Name – Submit Yours Today!
Have you ever noticed a TCU squirrel casually scurrying around campus, lost in anonymity? Well, here’s your chance to change that and give a squirrel a creative name. For just $3, you can name a squirrel, get a special certificate with the name, and support TCU student scholarships. “Ready to help a TCU squirrel find its identity?” Superfrog asked.

3.13.25: Purple Schedule Builder Upgrade scheduled March 21
The Purple Schedule Builder (PSB) class registration system will undergo an upgrade on Friday, March 21, from 8:30 am to noon. During this time, the system will be unavailable. This upgrade will enhance the performance, reliability, and functionality of PSB. Any questions during this time should be directed to the IT Support HelpDesk.

3.12.25: Message from the President: Spring Updates
President Pullin expressed his congratulations to the Women’s Basketball team on their wins in both the Big 12 regular season championship and the Big 12 tournament, highlighting the record breaking student attendance at women’s basketball games. As far as university-wide updates are concerned, research expenditures are at over $25 million, a new, student-centered tcu.edu homepage has been launched as well as a brand new university commercial. Pullin also addressed other updates in the strategic plan. President Pullin thanked the university community for its continued support and commitment to university values. 3.4.25: In Memoriam – Trustee Ronald C. Parker
Chancellor Boschini has requested that the Texas Christian University flag be lowered to half-staff on Thursday, March 6, 2025, in memory of Trustee Ronald C. “Ron” Parker (TCU Class of ’76). Parker served on the Board of Trustees since 2001. While on the Board, he held leadership roles and served on multiple committees and subcommittees, including: Executive, Academic Affairs, Governance, Development, Executive Compensation, Intercollegiate Athletics and Study/Advisement on University Social Issues. Most notably, Parker was inducted to the TCU Block T Hall of Fame in 2004, and served as co-chair of Lead On: A Campaign for TCU. In lieu of flowers, the Parker family kindly asks that donations be made in his honor to the Ronald C. Parker Memorial Scholarship Fund at Texas Christian University, ensuring that his passion for education, generosity, and commitment to uplifting others continue to inspire future generations. 3.3.25: In Memoriam – Mary Elizabeth “Mary Beth” Walker
Chancellor Boschini has requested that the TCU flag be lowered to half-staff on Tuesday, March 4, in memory of Ms. Mary Elizabeth “Mary Beth” Walker, who passed away on February 26. Walker was the Assistant Director of Simulation in the Harris College of Nursing. She worked at TCU from August 1996 to April 2013. Here is her obituary.
