The South University Drive Smoothie King is one of 14 stores nationwide that added food to its menu.
The Coppell-based chain is testing a “Power Eats” food menu consisting of protein boxes, toast and chicken skewers. Prices range from $5.99 to $6.99.
Bryan Lopez, a first-year music education student, said friends told him about the menu.
“I got the sous vide chicken skewers to pair with a smoothie for extra protein,” Lopez said. “I find it nice to have more protein source options.”
The “Power Eats” menu launched Jan.21, but marketing didn’t start until the week of Feb.3, Chelsea Sparks, Smoothie King manager, said.
“We wanted to test the new menu with our loyal customers to receive feedback before marketing it on a larger scale,” Sparks said.
Smoothie King announced the menu will feature six new food items including:
- Hearty 8-Grain Loaded Avocado Toast: 100% avocado is spread over toasted 8-grain bread and topped with everything seasoning.
