No. 2 seed TCU women’s basketball overcame a slow first quarter to claim their first NCAA tournament win since 2006, defeating No. 15 seed Fairleigh Dickinson 73-51.
The Horned Frogs outscored FDU 21-10 in the second quarter after trailing 17-12 early on. Madison Conner scored 10 of her 23 points in the second quarter to give the Frogs a 35-27 lead at halftime.
“I think this game was good for us since we found a way to work it out,” guard Hailey Van Lith said. “We may have had a little bit of nerves, but we found a way to get the win.”
Conner shot 9-17 from the field and 4-9 from 3-point-range. TCU also got contributions from Sedona Prince, who posted a double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds, and Van Lith, who added 13 points and seven assists.

The Frogs remain undefeated at home this season with their 20th home win.
“It is a Friday at 2:30, and you almost had a sellout,” said TCU head coach Mark Campbell. “Fort Worth showed out, and we loved it.”
TCU held Fairleigh Dickinson to 35.4% shooting from the field and 9.1% from the beyond the arc. Meanwhile, TCU shot 52.7% from the field and 36.4% from 3-point range.
“Our biggest key was to defend the 3-point line, and I think we did a great job holding FDU to one three,” Campbell said.
TCU will face No. 7 seed Louisville in the round of 32 on Sunday.
