Four members of club swim will represent TCU at the College Club Swimming national championship meet this weekend for the first time in the organization’s history.
Lainey Devine, Hope Hand, Alyssa England and Jaidyn Hooper each qualified for the national championship meet in multiple individual events. The athletes will also compete for TCU in the 4×50 medley relay, the 4×50 freestyle relay and the 4×100 freestyle relay.

Competing at the national championship meet is not just a personal feat for each athlete but a milestone for the club. Qualifying for this meet means club swim has reached the highest possible level of competition for the first time in its eight years on campus.
“Sending swimmers to nationals for the first time is a reflection of the hard work, dedication and passion the team has put in not just this season but over the past few years,” said Alyssa England, a senior kinesiology major.
England has been a member of club swim since her freshman year, and in her final semester at TCU, she serves as the president of the club and is leading the organization to its first-ever national championship.
“Seeing my journey lead club swim to the national stage is truly incredible,” said England, who will compete individually in the 50 and 100 breaststroke this weekend.

The team hopes for this year to be just the first of many national championships for the team.
“I’m so happy for this meet to be the team’s first nationals, but it definitely won’t be the last,” said Lainey Devine, a sophomore entrepreneurship major. Devine is set to compete individually in the 50, 100 and 200 freestyle this weekend.
Devine hopes this meet will bring attention to the club and attract new members to further the team’s growth and ability to compete at the national level.
The national championship meet will be held March 28-30 at the Skyline Aquatic Center in Mesa, Arizona.
