No. 16 TCU women’s golf tied for sixth place at the Charles Schwab Women’s Collegiate Invitational at Colonial Country Club, holding their own against a field that included 13 of the nation’s top 30 programs.
The Horned Frogs shot a 3-over 283 in Tuesday’s final round to finish the tournament at 19-over 859, moving up six spots on the leaderboard over the final two rounds of play.
TCU tied with No. 6 Texas and placed ahead of four top-20 teams: No. 5 USC, No. 15 Vanderbilt, No. 17 Texas A&M and No. 18 Mississippi State in what was described as a de facto preview of May’s NCAA D1 Women’s Golf Championship.
Defending national champion and top-ranked Stanford won the tournament at even-par 840. Anna Davis of Auburn claimed the individual championship with a score of 9-under 201.
Freshman Camille Min-Gaultier led the Horned Frogs with a tie for ninth place at even-par 210 (70-69-71), her fourth top-10 individual finish of the season. Min-Gaultier, from La Londe-les-Maures, France, led the field in par-3 scoring at 2.75 strokes per hole.
The team’s performance at Colonial was one as of its strongest of the season, competing effectively against many of the nation’s elite programs.
Min-Gaultier has been TCU’s top performer in a team-leading five tournaments this season, including four of five spring events. She entered Tuesday’s final round tied for eighth at 1-under and maintained her top-10 position with a 1-over 71 final round. The nation’s No. 71 ranked player was the second-highest finisher among freshmen in a field featuring 34 top-100 players.
All four remaining TCU players improved their 36-hole positions in the final round.
Kirstin Angosta tied for 26th at 6-over 216 (75-70-71), climbing five spots on the final day. She matched Min-Gaultier’s final-round score and posted a 1-over total across the second and third rounds.
Sofia Barroso Sá made the biggest move for TCU, shooting an even-par 70 in the final round to jump from a tie for 50th into a tie for 32nd at 8-over 218 (74-74-70). She played her final 10 holes at 2-under-par.
Freshman Gracie McGovern tied for 53rd at 12-over 222 (79-72-71). After sitting at 9-over following the first round, McGovern rallied to post a 3-over 143 total over the final 36 holes. Her birdie on the 16th hole in the final round helped TCU secure its tie with Texas.
Senior Meagan Winans rounded out the TCU lineup, tying for 37th at 9-over 219 (72-74-73).
The Horned Frogs demonstrated their consistency by scoring par or better on 76 percent of their holes (206 of 270), a mark bettered only by Stanford, Auburn and Arizona.
TCU continued its pattern of strong finishes, playing the final 10 holes at 2-under-par and the back nine at even par. Dating back to the 2023-24 season, the Horned Frogs have posted their lowest round score in the final round in 14 of their last 20 tournaments.
With this result, TCU is likely to maintain a top-15 national ranking heading into the Big 12 Championship, scheduled for April 16-18 at The Clubs at Houston Oaks in Hockley, Texas. The team has not finished worse than sixth in any tournament this season.
The final team standings saw No. 3 Oregon finish second at 2-over 842, followed by No. 19 Auburn and No. 9 Wake Forest tied for third at 6-over 846. No. 20 Arizona rounded out the top five at 11-over 851.
Following TCU and Texas in a tie for sixth, No. 36 SMU placed eighth at 23-over 863, while Texas A&M (26-over 866) and Mississippi State (29-over 869) completed the top 10.
