Accountability, flexibility and a chance to teach and learn are what some students say drives them to CorePower Yoga.
Located in the WestBend complex on University Drive, the studio offers different levels of hot yoga, sculpt and power flow classes.
TCU students who frequent the studio say they are drawn to the unique heated workouts.
“Yoga sculpt is such an energizing, uplifting experience, and I always leave the studio feeling stronger, happier, and excited to come back,” Alanys Mosqueda, a sophomore finance major and CorePower trainee, said.

Students are required to make a reservation, meaning they are more likely to attend class.
Some said the structured workouts like sculpt and pilates feel more motivating and engaging than simply lifting weights or running on a treadmill.
“The energy is so uplifting and the community is filled with people who genuinely support and encourage one another,” Mosqueda said.
The heated and fast-paced classes incorporate an idea of community, which is why some sorority members said they go in groups.
“I usually go to CorePower with friends,” Taylor Snider, a sophomore finance major, said. “Having them there is a huge motivator since we hold each other accountable to show up and put in our best effort. Plus, it’s a great way for us to catch up on life and take a break from school.”
For some, it is more than just a workout; it’s a job. Some students have become instructors.
“I’d always been interested in teacher training, but when the opportunity came up, I had a ‘now or never’ moment and decided to go for it,” Maddie Mills, a junior finance major and CorePower instructor, said.

“I discovered CorePower early on, and it quickly became my favorite way to relieve stress and connect with myself,” she said.
Instructors must complete CorePower’s intensive teacher training program, where form and ability to motivate are taught.
“I chose to invest in training because I want to help others feel just as empowered,” Mosqueda said.
Balancing teaching and a student lifestyle can be challenging, but many see it as an opportunity to combine their passion for wellness and school.
“That said, I also go to the Rec Center, but CorePower gives me a different kind of workout that I really enjoy,” Snider said.
