Fort Worth recently surpassed Austin in population, and the growth trend continues upward, including for TCU.
Since 2020, Fort Worth has seen a 6.5% increase in population, according to the city’s official website. Just in the past year, the population has risen by 2.2%.
The expansion has led the city to become the 12th largest in the nation and the 24th most densely populated.
This growth is a testament to the city’s appeal and economic opportunities, which have made it one of the most sought-after places to live in the United States.
Evidence of this expansion can be seen in new businesses, increased traffic and rising housing prices.
As Fort Worth becomes more appealing, so does TCU, with the university seeing more and more applicants each year.
The city’s rapid development provides students with invaluable experiences that come with living in a major city. Students will have increased opportunities for internships, networking and real-world experiences that will shape their careers.
Heath Einstein, vice provost for enrollment management, highlighted these geographical opportunities and the appeal of living near a big city where sporting events, concert venues and other attractions are easily accessible. Einstein sees these opportunities as reasons why students and families are attracted to TCU.
“Yet, I think we all know what makes Fort Worth so special, much like what makes TCU so special, is that it never feels overwhelmingly large,” Einstein said. “It has the feel of a place that’s a little bit smaller than it actually is, but all of the benefits of a place that’s much larger. And in that way, again, TCU and the city of Fort Worth are reflections of one another.”
As Fort Worth continues to grow, so will its influence on the broader metroplex and TCU.
Whether students or residents, Fort Worth’s expansion will likely bring in new people, places and opportunities that will shape the city’s future.
