TCU students looking for a running community have turned to the TCU Co-ed Running Club. The club is made up of 10-15 members but is open to all students who show up and want to run.
Those in the club have different reasons for why they run. Some are training for upcoming marathons, while others are simply running for personal health.
“Running isn’t an easy thing regardless of your reasoning, especially for long distances,” Adrian Munoz, club vice president, said. “The goal is to encourage people to get out there and get their body moving. Doing it in a community where you can make tough things fun and enjoyable is a plus.”

Run events are hosted weekly and usually involve plenty of Celsius and support from members. The executive board consists of a president and vice president but also pacing officers, who each run at different paces so no person feels left behind.
“Running can feel like an isolated sport, but as a run leader, I get the privilege of leading and guiding runs,” junior movement science major Ashlyn Blakely said. “There could be a smaller group that only wants to run two miles at a calmer pace, so I have the leadership opportunity to guide.”
The club is ideal for those wanting to get active, especially outdoors in nature.
“The club consists of people with a common passion, which is the love for health and running, and it’s a big plus that we get to enjoy each other’s presence while exploring the running paths of Fort Worth,” Blakely said.

“Ashlyn was one of the first people I met at Run Club and is such a big encourager; she pushes me and has been such a blessing in my life,” first-year member Adayla Coakley said. “Run club has also helped me gain discipline. All the exec members are so motivating and make you want to push to be a better version of you. Joining is something I would 100% encourage others to do.”
