An early education student at TCU has turned her love for learning and the Lord into an inspiring children’s book.

Charlotte Woodford’s “How I Know He is Real” tells the story of Lilly Greene, an 8-year-old who is unsure of who Jesus Christ is.
“While Lilly is primarily a fictional character, her story is a reflection of who I was as a child and many of the questions I had for those around me,” Woodford said. “Lilly’s Mother is a reflection of my mother, and the supporting characters were influenced by friendships and interactions I had as a child.”
Woodford said that the book reminds her of the simplistic ways that God reveals himself in day-to day life.
The book is available on Amazon and in the Campus Store.
Charlotte Woodford, a junior at TCU, is turning her interest of teaching into writing.
“I’ve always loved to work with children, so the call to teach in some way has been clear,” Woodford said. She also talked about how the influence of her mom and two grandmothers as educators drew her to the field, which led her to write her first book.

Woodford said she’s still is in awe of how the publishing and illustrating process came together.
Woodford said her inspiration to write came while she was sitting in her Children’s Literature class. She widely attributes this accomplishment to her faith and the Lord’s hand not only as the author of her life, but the inspiration for her book.
“Amongst the chaos of life, the call to write this book was so clear, and I couldn’t be more grateful that I did,” she said. “I’ve learned so much about teaching and learning through TCU’s College of Education, and I wouldn’t be where I am without the support of my professors and peers.”
