In a celebration of creativity, innovation and hard work, last week, the Schieffer Showcase brought together standout students in the Bob Schieffer College of Communications to share their semester projects.
“Students get excited about sharing their work,” instructor Charity Robinson said. Everything from research presentations to video or audio work was on display on Wednesday.
Lena Forbes, a senior sports broadcasting and digital media major, and her groupmates presented their semester-long project at the Broadcasting Education Association conference in Las Vegas, NV. They had the chance to bring that to the showcase as well.

“We thought it was such a great experience, and we really wanted to share with the other students and faculty,” Forbes said.
Kate Mytchak, a senior communication studies major, has participated in the showcase twice now. This year, she presented her independent study, “How to be Social; Using Third Spaces, Craft Clubs, and Book Clubs to Find Community.”
“How do people meet people once we get out of college?” Mytchak’s study asked. The showcase offered itself as an avenue for students to have these conversations.
This event served to highlight students work, community-building, collaboration and passion about their futures.
“One of the things I love most about this program is all of the professors,” Mytchak said. “I know that this program has prepared me for anything.”
This year’s showcase also added the chance to wear an honors cord to represent their victory for best undergraduate research project, best undergraduate creative project, best graduate projects and best DEI project categories.
