TCU ended their season in the Corvallis regional with a 7-2 loss to Oregon State.
Oregon State jumped out to an early lead with a three-run home run from catcher Wilson Weber in the first inning. They would add another run to go up 4-0 in the second inning with a solo home run off the bat of third baseman Trent Caraway.
The slow start ended left-hander Mason Brassfield’s day. He only went one inning, allowing four runs on four hits with two walks and one strikeout.
Braeden Sloan would enter the game to relieve Brassfield. Sloan was able to get through the second inning cleanly. However, the third inning was a rough one. Second baseman AJ Singer took Sloan deep to start the inning and made the score 5-0.
The third inning didn’t get much better for Sloan, as he allowed a two-run home run to first baseman Tyce Peterson, putting TCU in a 7-0 hole.
The TCU hitters responded in the fifth inning with a two-run shot from left fielder Isaac Cadena. That home run brought in shortstop Anthony Silva, making the score 7-2. That was the final score of the game.
Sloan finished strong as he had four innings with no runs, no hits and a pair of walks the rest of the way. He did end up with nine strikeouts. Unfortunately, TCU couldn’t get more run support.
TCU had six hits, and Oregon State had seven hits. TCU couldn’t capitalize on its hits and the long ball like Oregon State could. Oregon State launched four home runs, while TCU only managed one.
TCU’s season ended disappointingly, even though they finished third in the Big 12. They will look to make adjustments through their recruiting classes and transfer portal to have better results next year.
