TCU students looking for off-campus housing will have more options near the eastern edge of campus, with the Village East Apartments adding 15 more units for the 2026–27 school year, said property manager Lindsey Heaton
More units coming
The new units will include 30 beds, assigned parking spots for residents and a leasing office on the property at 2700 Lubbock Ave., Heaton said. Village East, designed for student living, will also convert its current leasing office at 2737 Merida Ave. into an additional unit.

“The development will include Village East’s property management office, making it one of the few, if not the only, housing developments in the area to have on-site property management,” said Natalie Foster, the communications specialist for the city of Fort Worth.
Rezoning approved by City Council
To keep a consistent design with the surrounding properties approved by the city council, the property was rezoned from a medium-density multifamily area to an urban residential area, Foster said.

The original rezoning application was posted in May to meet with neighbors. The developers then secured support from the University Place HOA and TCU Facilities and Campus Planning, said Dave McCorquodale, case manager.
Before construction, the 0.43-acre site located in the Frisco Heights neighborhood held six single-story homes, McCorquodale said.
Because of the Village East expansion, the city is encouraging a mix of student housing, retail and urban living to match with Hulen/Cityview and TCU, McCorquodale said.
Students react to changes
Julia Vanoli, a senior speech-language pathology major who has lived in Village East for the past two years, said the construction around the area has made driving more difficult, but the location is worth it.
“One of the reasons I picked Village East is because it’s close to campus, so I can walk to class,” Vanoli said.
