Prosecutors in Utah are preparing to file a capital murder charge Tuesday against 22-year-old Tyler Robinson, accused of assassinating conservative activist Charlie Kirk during a campus event at Utah Valley University, according to AP News. Investigators say Robinson, who authorities believe held a leftist ideology and may have been radicalized online, fired the fatal shot from a rooftop near the school.

A rifle and ammunition engraved with anti-fascist messages were recovered along with DNA evidence tying Robinson to the weapon. He has been held without bail since his arrest and is expected to appear virtually for his first court hearing once charges are filed.
Thousands flee Gaza City as Israeli military starts ground operation
The Israeli military launched a ground offensive in Gaza City on Tuesday, pressing into the territory’s largest urban center as thousands fled and many more remained trapped, according to AP News. Officials said the operation’s goal is to destroy Hamas’ military infrastructure, though no timeline was given and Israeli media reported it could last months.
The move came the same day United Nations-commissioned experts accused Israel of committed genocide, a claim Israel rejected as false. Heavy bombardment struck the city overnight and into the morning as Defense Minister Israel Katz declared “Gaza is burning.”
