Prosecutors are seeking the death penalty for alleged Charlie Kirk assassin, Tyler Robinson
Tyler James Robinson, 22, has been charged in connection with the murder of conservative activist Charlie Kirk on the Utah Valley University campus. Prosecutors allege Robinson fired a long-range rifle shot that pierced Kirk’s neck from a rooftop. According to CNN, he faces counts of aggravated murder, felony discharge of a firearm causing serious bodily injury, two counts of obstruction of justice, two counts of witness tampering and committing a violent offense in the presence of a child.
Prosecutors say Robinson targeted Kirk because of his political expression and hatred for Kirk. Children were present during the shooting, which serve as aggravating factors under Utah law. Authorities say Robinson attempted to hide the weapon and clothing, instructed his roommate to delete the text messages and remain silent when asked questions by authorities and admitted in private messages.
He is currently being held without bail. Utah prosecutors have also announced their intent to seek the death penalty if Robinson is convicted.

Donald Trump arrives in Windsor with first lady Melania Trump to meet up with the King and Queen for his state visit to the U.K.
President Donald Trump was greeted with formal royal pageantry Wednesday morning as King Charles and senior members of the royal family hosted him on the first full day of his state visit to the United Kingdom. Trump and first lady Melania Trump arrived at Windsor Castle by carriages before inspecting troops and exchanging gifts with the royals.
According to the BBC, the ceremony, which included 1,300 service members in the largest guard of honor ever for a state visit, underscored Britain’s efforts to highlight the strength of its alliance with the United States. Prime Minister Keir Starmer is expected to join Trump later for a flyover featuring U.S. and U.K. aircraft, while both leaders will attend a banquet in St. George’s Hall.
The visit transpired with the announcement of a £31 billion U.S. technology investment in the U.K. including contributions from Microsoft and Alphabet. Trump spoke highly of King Charles mentioning him as a “friend” and described the trip as an “honor,” signaling his willingness to discuss trade and defense ties.
The visit has drawn protests in London and Windsor, including an unauthorized projection of images of Trump and Jeffrey Epstein on Windsor Castle Tuesday night, which led to four arrests. Events are being held largely behind closed doors with heightened security. The trip will conclude Thursday.

U.S. Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem joins federal immigration agents on Tuesday that resulted in arrests of U.S. citizens
Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem joined Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents, ICE, in a raid Tuesday in suburban Chicago that resulted in multiple arrests, including two U.S. citizens who were later released. According to NewsWeek, the operation, called “Operation Midway Blitz,” targeted criminal noncitizens in the Chicago area.
A video posted by Noem on X showed tactical teams leading people away in handcuffs outside a home in Elgin as helicopters hovered overhead. Federal officials said arrests included suspects accused of assault, drunken driving and stalking. ICE reported more than 66,000 arrests and 65,000 removals in the Trump administration’s first 100 days, with detention levels rising to 55,000.
Local officials blasted Noem. “She can go to hell. Don’t come into my community,” said Illinois state Sen. Cristina Castro. The Department of Homeland Security said the multiweek operation will continue across the Chicago region with ICE, the U.S. Marshals, the FBI and Customs and Border Protection involved.
