The Frogs look to improve to 2-1 in Big-12 play as they face off against the Kansas State Wildcats on Saturday. TCU improved to 4-1 on the year and 1-1 in Big-12 play after defeating Colorado 35-21.
Josh Hoover had another impressive performance as he accounted for five touchdowns, four passing and one rushing. Hoover is now over 1,500 passing yards on the year with 15 passing touchdowns and two rushing touchdowns. He was named co-offensive Big-12 player of the week.
Wide receiver Eric McAlister and running back Kevorian Barnes returned from injury for the Frogs against Colorado and impressed as McAlister had two receiving touchdowns and Barnes led the team in rushing.
The TCU defense stepped up against Colorado as the Frogs forced four turnovers with three of them being interceptions with defensive backs Bud Clark and Jamel Johnson and linebacker Namdi Obiazor all catching an interception. Johnson has three interceptions on the year. Obiazor was named co-defensive Big-12 player of the week.
The Frogs remain unranked but received 14 votes in the AP poll this week.
Kansas State is 2-4 on the year and 1-2 in Big-12 play. The Wildcats suffered a loss to Baylor this past week. Quarterback Avery Johnson has over 1,300 passing yards on the year and leads the Wildcats in rushing as well.
Kansas State started the year ranked but lost their ranking after picking up losses to Big-12 foe Iowa State in Ireland and losing at home against Army. Every game that Kansas State has lost has been a one score game.
TCU is 8-10 all time against Kansas State and is looking for their first win against the Wildcats since 2022. The last time TCU and Kansas State faced off was in 2023 at Kansas State where the Frogs suffered a loss.
The Frogs will travel to Manhattan, Kansas, to face off against the Wildcats on Saturday, Oct. 11, with kickoff at 2:30 p.m. The game will be streamed on FOX.
