Government shutdown reaches 20 days
The Senate failed yet again to pass a plan to reopen the government, due to the Democrats requesting additional funding for health care before agreeing with Republicans.
The shutdown has now lasted a total of 20 days, making it the third-longest in U.S. history, according to USA Today.
A judge in California delayed the Trump administration from laying off over 4,000 workers, but White House official Russ Vought said more than 10,000 government employees could still lose their jobs if the shutdown continues.
Accusations fly between China and America over latest trade collapse

China and the U.S. are blaming each other for the latest collapse in trade talks, according to a report from Bloomberg.
U.S. officials have targeted Beijing as the cause of the setback, while China argued Washington’s new restrictions on Chinese companies were too much to handle.
Several U.S. banks are reporting possible fraud and major loan losses, raising concerns about credit market instability.
Trump administration vs. New York City
The Trump administration instructed New York City to halt its plan to add bus lanes on 34th street in Manhattan while threatening to withhold federal funding, according to The New York Times.

Federal officials claimed the project would interfere with truck and emergency vehicle access in the city.
New York City Department of Transportation spokesman Vincent Barone argues the project meets all rules and would improve for 28,000 riders.
The move comes after the Trump administration’s threats to other New York City transit projects.
