The TCU Press, founded in 1947, is TCU’s own publishing house specializing in the history, culture and literature of Texas and the American West.
With a team of just five, the TCU Press staff receives five to six acquisitions (manuscripts, queries) per week. It is the only university press in Dallas-Fort Worth, publishing about 25 books per year.
Dan Williams, the TCU Press Director, and Marco Roc, the TCU Press Associate Editor, collaborate to select acquisitions for publication. They consider each piece looking for the ones that have the best contributions, the best writing and the most relevance.
“Anyone is able to send in acquisitions, and we already have partnerships with several people on campus who have published books on the history of nursing, the history of honors and Neeley,” Williams said.

The TCU Press has even published the book “ Twice Around a Marriage” by Pulitzer Prize-winning author Robert Olen Butler.
Among their published books, the staff has favorites of their own.
“I like ‘Austin Music is a Scene, Not a Sound’ by Michael Corcoran that chronicles 100 years of music in Austin and surrounding areas, particularly featuring 50 live music venues where artists went to perform,” Roc said.
The TCU Press’ books are available for sale at their storefront on 3000 Sandage Ave., their website, the TCU Bookstore and book retailers like Amazon and Barnes and Noble.
For those interested in assisting with publications, the TCU Press offers internship and work opportunities for students. Some responsibilities include:
- Reviewing acquisitions and writing brief reports
- Editing and proofing
- Social media marketing and blog posts
