Coffee shops are an essential part of the college experience, providing students with a jolt of caffeine and a change of scenery.
TCU students have numerous favorite spots near campus and around Fort Worth.
Ampersand

Ampersand stands out as one of the most popular coffee shops among TCU students. Located on South University Drive, the shop draws crowds with its vast menu and proximity to campus. Popular choices include the signature “Matchadoodle” and “Butterbeer Latte,” along with food options ranging from avocado toast to pizza bagels.
“I find myself at Ampersand almost everyday,” Layla Borman, a sophomore political science major, said. “I really love that it’s specifically all TCU students there, it makes it more comfortable and familiar.”
Common Grounds
Common Grounds serves as another convenient option. Located on Greene Avenue, the shop’s living room feel and spacious seating make it a go-to spot for cozy study sessions. The space features a stage that hosts live music, ministry and other events. The menu includes uniquely named drinks like the “Nervous Breakdown” and a range of “Sleep is Overrated” drinks. Common Grounds’ most notable offering is their “Cowboy Coffee” selection, which includes a sweet secret sauce.
For students willing to venture farther, Magnolia Avenue offers two standout options: Avova Coffee Roasters and Cherry Coffee Shop.

Avoca Coffee
Avoca Coffee sources and roasts its beans in-house, guaranteeing high-quality coffee with every cup. The atmosphere is relaxed with a focus on the craft of coffee itself.
Cherry Coffee Shop

Cherry Coffee Shop roasts and sells its own beans. Menu standouts include the “Very Cherry” latte and cappuccino, both featuring cinnamon and cherry syrup. The interior design creates a welcoming and comfortable atmosphere.
Emily Bishop, a junior strategic communication major, said she prefers getting coffee off-campus.
“Cherry is my favorite because it’s sort of underrated and unknown and I like going into different areas of Fort Worth,” Bishop said.
La La Land Kind Cafe
La La Land Kind Cafe has become another popular destination for TCU students. Located on Camp Bowie Boulevard, the cafe’s menu offers a variety of signature lattes, teas, matchas and toasts.

“Every drink on their menu is so good, but I especially crave their cold foam,” Caitlin Diehl, a senior fashion merchandising major, said.
La La Land Kind Cafe emphasizes customer interaction and creating a positive environment. The playful aesthetic and iconic yellow branding attracts customers to its several locations across the country.
