TCU’s shuttle service, Froggie Five-O, will soon become more accessible on campus through new signage intended to help students use and know about the safety resource.
Student Government Association representatives Owen Mlakar and Kyle Bell said the change came after hearing confusion among students.
“In the Campus Affairs Committee meeting, we discussed input from students saying they weren’t aware of Froggie Five-O and didn’t know how to use it,” Bell said. “We knew how important it was for safety.”
Froggie Five-O provides free rides around campus after dark. Students call a designated number, and an officer or student worker arrives by golf cart to shuttle them safely to their destination.

Without posted instructions, the service is often underutilized.
“These signs will help make the ride service more accessible,” Mlakar said. “Many students walk around late at night, unsure how to call a Froggie Five-O. These signs allow students to quickly call for a ride while also encouraging them to take advantage of the service.”
The bill calls for six permanent signs in high-traffic and high-visibility areas. The planned locations include the Worth Hills parking garage, the baseball and soccer field lots, the overflow lot behind the football field, the front of the library and near Gutierrez Dining Hall.
The signs will include the Froggie Five-O phone number, making the service easier to use in the moment rather than relying on students to search for the information.

The signs will be funded and designed through the TCU Police Department and Transportation Services, with SGA supporting the effort now that legislation has passed.
“This effort fits perfectly in TCU’s broader campus safety strategy,” Mlakar said. “The more we make these services more popular and easier to access, the more students will use them, and the safer campus becomes.”
Campus Affairs said their focus remains on strengthening day-to-day safety resources, rather than reacting to specific incidents.
The signs are expected to be installed later this academic year.
