The Frogs have hired a new offensive coordinator after the departure of Kendal Briles to South Carolina.
South Carolina announced Briles as their offensive coordinator on Dec. 9. Briles has been with the Frogs since 2023.
TCU announced Gordon Sammis as the new offensive coordinator on Dec. 11. Sammis was the offensive coordinator for the UConn Huskies from 2023-2025 and is currently serving as the interim head coach for the Huskies after UConn’s head coach accepted the head coaching job at Colorado State.

This will be Sammis’ seventh stop as a coach, going from being a graduate assistant at his alma mater, Virginia, to offensive lineman coach at VMI, Lafayette, William & Mary and finally UConn, where he got his first gig as an offensive coordinator.
As a former Virginia offensive lineman, Sammis is most known for developing that position. As such, UConn ranked in the top 20 in fewest sacks allowed and had offensive firepower. UConn ranked above TCU in their passing offense, having over 300 passing yards per game and only one interception on the year.
UConn was above TCU in rushing offense as well, averaging just below 160 rushing yards a game, compared to TCU’s 132 rushing yards a game.
One of the most eye-catching statistic is Sammis’ red zone efficiency. UConn scored on 90 percent of their red zone attempts, whereas TCU only scored on 79 percent.
Sammis will join the Frogs after the Valero Alamo Bowl. He will remain the interim head coach for the Huskies’ bowl game.
Since Briles served as the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach during his tenure with the Frogs, TCU is still without a quarterbacks coach.
