Hoover has started for TCU since the 2023 football season and broke the school record for passing yards in a season in 2024. Hoover is third all-time in TCU career passing yards. He has thrown for over 9,000 yards and 71 touchdowns.
Hoover is currently sixth for both passing yards and passing touchdowns among quarterbacks this year across the FBS. Hoover helped lead the Frogs to 8-4 record this year and is set to play USC in the Valero Alamo Bowl. Hoover was 19-12 as a starter at TCU.
ESPN announced that Hoover will not play for the Frogs against USC in the Alamo Bowl.
TCU now turns to backup quarterbacks, Ken Seals and Adam Schobel. Seals is a redshirt senior and has appeared in two games this year, throwing only six pass attempts. Schobel is a true freshman and has yet to appear in a game during his collegiate career. Schobel was a four star recruit out of high school. The starter has not been announced for the game.
TCU will likely be looking for a quarterback in the portal this offseason to replace Hoover. The portal will open on Jan. 2.
