The Frogs opened up their conference schedule to defend their Big 12 regular season title against the Kansas State Wildcats at home and remain undefeated (13-0), with a final score of 77-55.
A close opening quarter for the frogs, with the largest scoring gap being only five points. Closing out the first quarter with a 6-0 run, 20-15.
Kansas State (7-6) opened the game shooting 60% from the floor.
Coming off her first career triple double in her last game, Marta Suarez had a slow start, shooting just 1/6 from the field.
TCU had a fast paced first half on both sides of the court. TCU’s defense continued to get the job done and allowed them to pull away earning a 15-point lead, 39-26.
The TCU defense held the Wildcats to only shooting 32% from the field compared to the Frogs 57%.
Clara Silva who earned her third double-double of the year this game, got the momentum going coming out of halftime.
The Frogs-maintained control of this game extending their lead to 22-points to close out the 3rd quarter, 59-37.
The Frogs outrebounded the wildcats by 13 and held them to shooting 33% from the field.
TCU struggled with turnovers early on but held control in the second half, closing out the game with 15 total and the Wildcats with 11.
Wildcats had opportunities to take advantage of the Frogs’ miscues on the defensive end of the court but failed to capitalize.
The Horned Frogs were led by Olivia Miles with her season-high of 29 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. Followed by Marta Suarez with 20 points and 8 rebounds.
Up next, after the teams 34th straight home win TCU will hit the road to face BYU on Dec, 31. Tip-off is at 8 p.m.
