The men and women’s swimming and diving team will celebrate senior night on Friday against nationally ranked Texas–TCU’s final event of the regular season. The Seniors: Ashley Dyke: Charlotte, North Carolina Events: Breast/IM Chris Hearl: Overland Park, Kansas Events: Back/Fly Taylor Gould: Dunwoddy, Georgia Event: Diving Garrett Hills: Lake Wylie, South Carolina Events: Free/Fly Jake Powell: Colleyville, Texas Events: Back/Fly John Remetta: Southlake, Texas Events: IM/Breast Meagan Thompson: Mansfield, Texas Events: Mid. Distance/Sprint The men last competed against West Virginia in Morgantown on Jan. 14, where freshman Radu Duican stole the show. Duican, along with teammates Jakub Swierczynski, Matt Spallas and Garrett Hills, won the 200-yard medley relay. Duican added to the relay win with individual victories in the 100-yard backstroke and the 200-yard backstroke. Despite Duican’s performance, the men’s team lost against the Mountaineers. The women’s team competed against the University of North Texas on Jan. 27. Horned Frogs Maddie Ibrahim, Devin Newton, Claire Munster and Micaela Roemer opened the meet with a win in the 200-yard medley relay. In addition to the relay win, several swimmers had strong individual performances. One of which was freshman Katie Woods, who won the 1000-yard freestyle. The team would fall short in the meet against the Mean Green, but TCU still leads the all-time series between the two schools, 15-5. Senior day celebrations will begin at 3:45 p.m. on Friday at the University Recreation Center prior to the 4 o’clock meet. The meet can be streamed live on FloSports and FrogVision.
