Kasey Davis' favorite football teams were Oklahoma University, TCU and the Conroe High School Tigers."He loved football ever since he grew up in Oklahoma," said Davis' mother, Jenny Cantrell.

Davis, a redshirt freshman kicker for the TCU football team, was shot in the chest early in the morning Jan. 3 in an apartment complex parking lot in Conroe. Police found his body in the Chevy Tahoe he borrowed from his mother. He was 20.

Getting above-average grades with relatively few hours of work is an ideal situation for a college student.According to the 2005 National Survey of Student Engagement, students coming to college are expecting just that.

More than 90 percent of students entering college expect to receive grades of B or better, but less than 20 percent expect to spend more than 25 hours a week studying, the amount of time which most faculty say is needed, according to the survey.

The TCU baseball team players, while pleased with the respect granted to them by their No. 19 national preseason ranking, said they refuses to allow early recognition to dull their intensity."You want to be in the top 25 and be considered an elite program," junior outfielder Austin Adams said. "But to tell the truth, preseason rankings just means what you did last year."

Though every team aims to be perceived as top-level, sophomore pitcher Sam Demel said programs on the rise - such as TCU - are easily singled out by opponents.

Senior defensive tackle Jared Kesler has been named to the national All-Mayday Team by ESPN's Mark May.The All-Mayday Team honors players who show toughness during the season. Kesler, who tore his ACL in an Oct. 8 win at Wyoming, said it feels good to be recognized.

"It makes me feel good to know that other people have noticed, and also nationally they have recognized it," Kesler said. "If it's able to make it up to ESPN, I am pretty proud of that."

Head coach Gary Patterson said Kesler is one of the team's leaders.

Between the hot shooting of junior forward Ashley Davis at one end and a stalwart team defensive effort at the other, the TCU Lady Horned Frogs coasted to a 71 - 57 victory over Air Force Saturday.The Frogs, who led by as many as 24 late in the second half, continually frustrated the Falcons on both sides of the ball. TCU's aggressive full-court press forced 18 turnovers and led to 27 points, while Davis strung together a second consecutive strong performance with 20 points on 6-of-9 shooting.

When Jennifer Klein graduated from TCU in 2001 with a bachelor's degree in English, she fought with her parents about her future."My parents were determined I would go to graduate school right away," she said. "I told them I couldn't go when I really had no idea at all what I wanted to study."

Klein, like other TCU students, was unsure of what to do with her future.

Tracy Williams, associate director of TCU Abroad, said after college graduation is when most students first have to really think about what they want with their lives.
