Breakups hurt, and now there might be a real excuse as to why you physically feel that way. According to a March 2 article from The Associated Press, a new study by the University of Michigan shows that psychological or social events can affect the regions of the brain associated with physical pain. This means that one can literally feel physical pain from non-physical events, like breakups.

Carder named Dave Campbell’s defensive player of the year

Tank Carder was named the state's defensive player of the year by Dave Campbell's Texas Football Magazine. The senior linebacker was also named by the publication as the best linebacker in the state. In addition to Carder, wide receiver Josh Boyce, linebacker Tanner Brock, guard Kyle Dooley, kicker Ross Evans, punter Anson Kelton, defensive end Stansly Maponga, and running back Ed Wesley were all named to Dave Campbell's All-Texas Team. Carder has been named a first-team All-American by Playboy, Sporting News and Phil Steele's College Football Preview.

Silmon, Young advance at USA Outdoor Track and Field Championships

The Track and Field Championships started off with a bang for senior Jessica Young and sophomore Charles Silmon at Hayward Field in Eugene, Ore. Both runners ran well in the preliminary heats for 100 meters and will advance in their event. Young earned the right to compete in the women’s semifinals after running a 11.14, good for sixth place overall. The time edged the 11.16 mark set by NCAA champion Candyce McGrone. The semifinals consist of the top 18 runners.

Four Frogs to compete in USA Outdoor Track and Field Championships

This weekend, Charles Silmon leads a contingent of four Horned Frogs that are hoping to extend TCU's 2010-2011 athletic season for another month as they compete in the USA Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Eugene, Oregon.
