The university's Vision in Action (VIA) Strategic Plan Update Committee will hold its second town hall meeting today in order to inform and gain feedback from students and faculty about the committee's work.

Provost Nowell Donovan said the meetings, the first of which was held Monday, were intended to get people talking about the VIA and ways to improve the campus.

"The main part of a provost's job is to listen and formulate solutions," Donovan said. "It's meant to help faculty and students and the administration; it's meant to help everyone just do a better job."

Students shouldnt sacrifice grades for Facebook

Students shouldn’t sacrifice grades for Facebook

A recent study showed that students who use Facebook while trying to study have an average GPA of 3.06, while non-users maintained a much higher 3.82 GPA. I don't toggle to Facebook as often as many of my peers. I'm content only checking once a day to see if any of my friends have had life-changing moments while I was away from my computer. However, the couple of times I have indulged in Facebook when I had something more important to do means I probably didn't help my studying.

TCU defeated Tennessee Tech 62-7 Saturday despite the many mistakes the Horned Frogs made on the field, TCU head coach Gary Patterson said.

"We made too many mistakes," Patterson said. "It doesn't matter what the score is."

TCU gave up many key plays due to penalties during the game, losing 75 yards in penalties alone to Tennessee Tech.

Quarterback Andy Dalton said, "It seemed like there were four penalties back to back to back...that just hurt us and we can't have penalties to stop a drive."

It certainly does not take a person of extraordinary intellectual capability to notice that having an International Burn the Koran Day on the ninth anniversary of Sept. 11 would be more than just a bad idea. To my knowledge, there is no institution, public figure or church other than the Dove World Outreach Center in Gainesville, Fla. that supported this event. Thus, I'll trust the reader does not need an explanation of why burning Qurans is a bad way to spend his or her Saturday evening.
