A close game against crosstown rival UT-Arlington became heated late Wednesday night when a scuffle broke out in the eighth inning and both teams rushed the field. One player was ejected from each team, but the Horned Frogs went on to win 2-1 in the bottom of the ninth.

The Horned Frogs improved to 16-9 with the win, their second against the Mavericks this season.



Sophomore Greg Holle had an outstanding performance, going seven and two-thirds innings and giving up only one run on three hits.

The Free Application for Federal Student Aid form has gotten a lot of media attention lately regarding needed improvements, but it's not reasonable to expect any government program to run efficiently.

The university's director of financial aid, Michael Scott, said in a Skiff article Tuesday this week that there were problems with the length, redundancy and inefficiency of the FAFSA system.



When I first read this story, I thought, "Whoa, we have an administrator named Michael Scott? How cool is that?"

Alumnus and host of CBS' "Face the Nation" Bob Schieffer said he could not imagine a country without a newspaper in front of a sold-out crowd at the fifth annual Schieffer Symposium in the Brown-Lupton University Union Ballroom on Wednesday night.

This year's Symposium focused on the economic crisis, the media coverage of President Barack Obama's performance and the future of journalism.

Officials deny problems with advising

Junior music and Spanish major Janie Bergamasco said she has had a few problems with advising at the university.

Recently she wanted to change to a double major, but when she asked for advice, she kept being referred to different people, she said.



"It took a semester to finally happen when all I needed them to do was click a button that says I now have a double major," Bergamasco said. "I think there needs to be more general advisers to help people keep up with graduation."

Physical Plant is facing delays in installing bike racks the Student Government Association funded last semester because of construction and compatibility issues, a Physical Plant official said.

Hollis Dyer, superintendent of maintenance at Physical Plant, said there were reasonable explanations behind the absent bike racks, many of which were placed near their intended locations because of the inability to physically make room for them in walkways, Dyer said.

Technology Resources: TCU safe from virus

Despite an uproar over a potential crippling computer worm around the country, TCU and its computers will not be affected, a university official said.

The worm, called Conficker, is a program that attacks a loophole in the Microsoft Windows operating system and currently has infected more than 12 million personal computers since its conception in November, according to a Microsoft blog.

The Daily Skiff advertising staff won four awards at the 37th annual College Newspaper Business and Advertising Managers Inc. convention, which took place March 25 to 29 in Charlotte, N.C. The CNBAM represents more than 150 school newspapers nationwide.

The advertising staff placed first for best training program among all newspapers, as well as best advertisement rate card/media kit in Division 2, which includes publications that publish fewer than 40,000 copies a week.
